New funding projects – Inorganic Nanoparticles Group http://www.inorganicnanoparticles.net Research group at ICN Mon, 13 Jan 2020 13:55:52 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.28 New funding project GUIDENano (EU-FP7) just started! http://www.inorganicnanoparticles.net/new-project-guidenano/ Mon, 16 Dec 2013 10:20:51 +0000 http://inorganic.wpengine.com/?p=1809

Our new EU FP7 funded project GUIDEnano has just started. Under the lead of Prof. Víctor Puntes, our group is participating of the GUIDEnano consortium along with 26 partners, coordinated by LEITAT Technological Center. The project officially started on November 1st, 2013, and the kick-off meeting recently took place in Barcelona, Spain, on December 9-11, 2013.

The main objective of GUIDEnano is to develop innovative methodologies to evaluate and manage human and environmental health risks of nano-enabled products, considering the whole product life cycle. Our group participates of Work Packages 2, 3, 8, 9 and 11, but we will particularly devoted to WP7, of which we are WP leader. In this WP we will develop new technologies for risk reduction and risk management of nanomaterials, in which we mainly aim to generate nanosafety-by-design strategies for nanomaterials production.

Our group receives one of the funding awards from La Marató de TV3 http://www.inorganicnanoparticles.net/our-groufunding-award-from-la-marato-de-tv3/ Mon, 12 Nov 2012 10:21:06 +0000 http://inorganic.wpengine.com/?p=1297 Led by Prof. Puntes, our group partnered with Hospital Clínic to present a project for the last edition of the traditional Christmas fundraising telethon “La Marató de TV3”, whose efforts this time were focused on the regeneration and transplantation of organs and tissues. The project resulted among the 29 selected by La Marató, which formally presented the awards last November 5. The news report from TV3 can be found here:

We participated with the project “Cerium oxide nanoparticles as a new therapeutic tool for tissue regeneration in liver diseases”, coordinated by Dr. Wladimiro Jimenez from the Biomedical Diagnostic Center from Hospital Clínic. Our group will contribute with its expertise in cerium oxide nanoparticles, which preliminary results and applications in other areas indicate that are potentially useful in this case due to their anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Neus Bastús has been awarded the Marie Curie CIG grant http://www.inorganicnanoparticles.net/neus-bastus-marie-curie-cig-grant/ Thu, 05 Jul 2012 19:56:05 +0000 http://inorganic.wpengine.com/?p=936 Dr. Neus Bastús, a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral Fellow in our group, has been recently awarded a Marie Curie Career Reintegration Grant (CIG), granted by the European Commission to support junior researchers directly by funding their own research – a step beyond a personal fellowship. Neus presented the project “Developing New Strategies for the Production of Viable Hybrid Nanocrystals with Applicability in Energy Conversion and (Photo)catalysis”, focusing on the production of metal-semiconductor, metal-oxide of semiconductor and metal-metal oxide, in core-shell and/or oligomer-like configurations, by tackling the most challenging points related to the growth of multi-component materials, in particular the conditions by which it is possible to tune both, the materials that compose the structure and the morphology of the final structure.

Many congratulations, Neus!
